During a visit with the Kromskis in 2010, New Voyager Trading celebrated their 10 year relationship with a formal dinner with the Kromski families and all of their employees. This occasion prompted a good bit of discussion about the early history of the Kromski family and their connection to spinning. This early history may go back further than we had understood. During this visit we traveled with Daniel Kromski to Zbaszyn and a museum - Ziemi Zbaszynskiej l Regionu Kozla. There Daniel showed us a spinning wheel made by his grandfather. Each generation that followed has had their hands in the making of Polish wheels.
With the rise of Solidarity in Poland, the Russians going home and the embrace of democracy by the Polish population, the opportunity to finally grow a private business without meddlesome hands from the government presented itself. The modern history of the Kromski business began in 1999 for Marianne and Tim Horchler and the Kromskis with the arrival of a fax from Poland. The Kromskis were exploring the possibility of selling spinning wheels in the US and they were seeking a partner to make that happen. What followed is one of those perfect stories. Wheels were sent, ideas were exchanged, a visit to Poland and our first meeting with the Kromskis took place in early 2000. New Voyager Trading was formed to market the Kromski products. Today, the Kromski line of 7 spinning wheels and their very popular rigid heddle looms command a large presence in the US. A network of New Voyager dealers across the country are ready to introduce you to the most magnificent products in the fiber arts field.
